Materials Food Safety Standard

US FDA has standards for food safety materials. This standard includes test methods and the passed range of the results. This standard is the basic standard for food safety of materials. Before materials are applied in phamraceutical packaging of a specified medicine, the pharmaceutical medicine manufacturer should conduct a further test of compatibility between packaging materials and the medicine.

Here are the standard codes for the materials for sprayers and bottles.

• FDA 21 CFR 177.1520: PP, PE, Polyolefin
• FDA 21 CFR 177.1640: PS
• FDA 21 CFR 175.300(c)(3): Stainless Steel Spring
• FDA 21 CFR 177.1630: PET
• FDA 21 CFR 177.2470: POM *POM should not be exposed to foods containing by weight/volume 15% or more alcohol
